Our sporting journey.

Primary Schools Cross Country

This morning our year 5 and 6 cross country team travelled to Leigh Sports Village to run in the annual Wigan schools cross county championships. More than 800 people attended the event, with over 180 runners competing in both the boys and girls’ races. Both teams ran brilliantly in some very muddy conditions, with Milly Scapens finishing 9th in her race and qualifying to represent Wigan at the Greater Manchester Cross Country event in February. Overall, a great day was had, and all should be very proud of themselves.

Year 6 Intra School Competition

Last week our year 6 pupils took part in an afternoon dodgeball tournament, with each team enjoying a full 2 hours of competition against their peers. The students showed great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout.

On Friday 29th a football team made up of year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the Wigan Athletic FC tournament at Leigh Sports Village. The team were fantastic and finished runners up in their group, playing some brilliant football whilst working very well as a team. Unfortunately the team were knocked out in the second round, but should be extremely proud of their performances and the way they conducted themselves throughout the day, they were a credit to the school.

Year 6 Circuit Olympics

Year 6 finished PE with their usual determination.  A 1 v 1 Olympic circuit.  They are a credit to the school and I’ve really enjoyed teaching them.

Sisters doing it for themselves

The Worrall sisters following their first year of football outside of school. Cara received managers player of the year and Charlie received a most improved award.  This is what Nicol Mere sporting ethos is. Nurture the interest in PE and after school club.  Develop confidence in Competition then see that love of sport develop outside of school. Very proud teacher. Well done girls and keep your efforts in sport, it’s great to see !

Y4/5  children) entered for experience did well, conceding just one goal and losing just one game and finished in 6th.
