Our sporting journey.

Leigh school games 2016- gymnastics and golf teams grab bronze

Nicol Mere’s fantastic gymnastics team of year 2 children (and one super talented reception child in Roxy Lawton) showed fantastic teamwork to gain bronze medals.

Similarly, our tri golf team enjoyed a completely new sport but worked together to win a teamwork award and also take a 3rd place finish and bronze medals.

Our school couldn’t be prouder of the children’s enthusiasm and behaviour on the day. Staff from other schools commented on our schools behaviour and achievements. Well done too all.

Year 1 football team win Leigh school games 2016

Nicol Mere’s year 1s represented our school very well at the Leigh school games. Well behaved, respectful, passionate, honest and displaying great teamwork they showed exactly what the Leigh school games is all about.

Winning all their group games they went into the final game with confidence.  However, having gone quickly down 2-0 they had to show the value of determination to come back and that they did.

Goals from Caleb Anders and Ethen Hogg (2) saw our little stars grab a phenomenal 3-2 win. Gold medals and a trophy for the school. Best day ever said Rebecca.

Tri golf in Wigan 2016

A great experience for children to try a new skill in a fun setting. Nicol Mere took a team of Year 4s and a team of year 6s.  For some it was a first time representing the school which is always exciting.

Our year 4 team managed to pinch a 3rd place finish receiving bronze medals and our Year 6 team just missed out fishing 4th just a few points behind the bronze medal team.
Well done to all.

Leave us a message and enjoy the video 🙂

Ashton rounders competition 2016

First of all can I say a huge thank you to the children and parents who chose to give up at day off at school to organise children to join in this event. It shows the commitment to sport that continues to grow at Nicol Mere that we were able to attend a competition that was held on a school inset training day. Thank you also to Mrs Lazarou for supporting the team.

Our school rounders team started well winning game one but lost heavily in game two (to a very strong RL Hughes team) and mentally never recovered. A great experience for the children in how to stay focused after set backs I feel will stand them in good stead for the future. All in all a fun day out.
